Each of our rooms has air conditioning, cable television, private bathroom and a mini-fridge, where you can chill your favorite drink for a backyard cocktail. If you have the kids with you, watch them splash in the low creek, observe the birds, minnows and crayfish and explore the kid trails on the other side of the creek bridge. Luck might have you catch a glimpse of a Great Blue Heron. After eating inside or outside, a breakfast of your choice: eggs made to order, fruit salad, waffles, toast, bagels, muffins, yogurt, great coffee and a variety of teas, you might be ready to leave the grounds. You can further explore nature at Glimmerglass State Park where you can take a hike, swim or visit Historic Hyde Hall.
If you are a newbie to opera or just want to say you've been to one, Glimmerglass Festival is the best place to get your feet wet. Glimmerglass is not your grandmother's opera. It is inventive, modern, afforadble, and the singers are young artists from The Met. Before each opera you can picnic and listen to a talk about the show. Grab a glass of champagne, first. (Teachers get $12 tickets with ID) If baseball is your bag, well you've come to the right place. Hit some balls at the batting cages, catch a game a Doubleday Field, get a bat engraved, find the perfect glove and scour the shops for collectibles and of course, visit the Baseball Hall of Fame. If you are a reader, there is enough information in the hall to last a full day.
Our favorite lunch spots are Doubleday Cafe/Pub, Stagecoach Coffee/Deli or, Danny's Market, where you can grab a Latin Lover and head to the lake for a picnic. (sorry folks, he's just a scrumptious sandwich)
There is so much more to see during your stay, and your Innkeeper, Debbie is a wealth of knowledge and hospitality gem. She bestows an unparalled regard to the comfort of our guests.
